THIS WEEK IN CLASS:
WEEK OF AUGUST 12 - AUGUST 14
Welcome back! Can't wait to get to know all of you and excited to see some of you that I do know. This week is going to be partly transitioning and learning some of the procedures for class and also talking about some very imminent opportunities that you have as early as this week!!
WEEK OF AUGUST 17 - 21
This week we will be playing games that exercise and awaken our imaginations. Imagination is the key tool of any artist and particularly the theater artist.
WEEK OF AUGUST 24 - 27:
This is a short week, but we'll be continuing the theme of games and imagination.
WEEK OF AUGUST 31 - SEPTEMBER 4:
Again another short week. I only meet with you twice but we will be working on exercises that use your imagination in collaboration with a partner. Working together and creating ensemble is key this week.
WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 8 - 11:
We continue our work with imagination, incorporating more physical work. Statues, machines, and storytelling through movement. You guys are doing a great job
WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 14 - 18:
This week we start working on Viewpoints which is a technique that divides performance into 9 categories. The goal of studying viewpoints is two fold. First, to help create ensemble. Second, to push you to make broader and bigger choices as a performer by exploring the extremes of the different viewpoints. This week we will look at Tempo, Duration, Topography and Spatial Relationship.
WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 21 - 25:
HOMECOMING WEEK. NO JOURNALS DUE THIS WEEK. YOU MAY MAKE UP JOURNAL ASSIGNMENTS.
WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 28 - OCTOBER 2:
This week we continue working on Viewpoints. Doing Lane Work and Grid work with music.
WEEK OF OCTOBER 5 - 9:
This week we will start to look at devising theater pieces using Viewpoints. These are more abstract stories or performances called Compositions. Next week, you will be creating your own compositions.
