This week in class:
WEEK 1 AUGUST 12 - 14:
This week is about learning the ropes, identifying what's expected, having some fun and maybe even auditioning for your first professional PAID acting gig!
WEEK 2 AUGUST 17 - 21:
This week we'll start out talking about the job of the actor as "choice-maker" and the need for physical centering. We'll discuss varying energy or tension levels needed for different styles of acting and then finish up working on dynamics of stage movement. Don't forget this week - one journal response. It only needs to be 100 words and you can submit above on the website.
WEEK 3 AUGUST 24 - 27:
This was a short week. We focused on learning the basics of the scene: Objective, Conflict, Action/Tactics and Stakes. Also we discussed the five dynamics of movement on stage: 1. Moving toward 2. Moving away 3. Pulling toward 4. Pushing away 5. Standing your ground.
WEEK 4 AUGUST 31 - SEPT 4:
Again a short week. This week we will be putting the scene basics and dynamics of movement into practice. Gibberish scenes and Open Scene work will be introduced and performed.
WEEK 5 SEPT 7 - 11:
This week we'll start working on "Contentless Scenes." These are scenes where the dialogue does not give any information as to the givens of the scene. You will be required to create given circumstance, objectives, tactics, obstacles and relationships. REMEMBER TO DO YOUR JOURNALS THIS WEEK!!!!
WEEK 6 SEPT 14 - 18:
This week we are working on connecting ourselves to text and story. First we'll be working on Phone Apologies where you need to honestly apologize in an improv format. Second, you will perform a short scene without words where you physicalize an internal conflict. Lastly, we'll start working on the I-U monologues which should not be "acted" but instead you should make the words your own.
WEEK 7 SEPT 21 - 25:
This week we will continue working on the I-U monologues. Remember these are not be acted but made your own. It is about connecting personally with the text. Also, this week because of homecoming, you will not have any journals unless you want to make up missed journal assignments. This is a catch up week. Get the journals in and there will be no penalty. Have a great week!
WEEK 8 SEPT 28 - OCT 2:
This week we finish our monologues and started watching Arthur Miller's "All My Sons." You will be doing monologues and scenes from the play.
